Now I am reasonably satisfied that the scholars King James
appointed to interpret the old scripts knew what they were
doing, but they did miss a lot I afraid. Too, in those days he
no doubt appointed those he had confidence in to follow his
lead. Another thing, they didn’t have access to the Dead Sea
scrolls found later. Please read with an open mind as I did.
Genesis 4
[1] And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and
bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD.
[Just a note here, the supposedly same writer has switched
again in the title of the creator. He now calls him LORD.]
[2] And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a
keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.
[That Adam family began to farm for a living.]
[3] And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought
of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD.
[4] And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock
and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto
Abel and to his offering:
[5] But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect.
And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.
[Maybe I’m a little dense here, but why was the LORD
so displeased?]
[6] And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth?
and why is thy countenance fallen?
[Cain’s feelings were hurt. But let’s skip on down to the
12th verse.]
[12] When thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth
yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond
shalt thou be in the earth.
[vag·a·bond (v²g"…-b¼nd") n. 1. A person without a
permanent home who moves from place to place. 2. A
vagrant; a tramp. 3. A wanderer; a rover. --vag·a·bond adj.
1. Of, relating to, or characteristic of a wanderer; nomadic.
2. Aimless; drifting. 3. Irregular in course or behavior;
unpredictable.]
[13] And Cain said unto the LORD, My punishment is greater
than I can bear.[14] Behold, thou hast driven me out this
day from the face of the earth; and from thy face shall I be
hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth; and
it shall come to pass, that every one that findeth me shall slay
me.
[Just what kind of creature did Cain become? Some say a
Bigfoot, I’ve even heard a couple who thought he became a
modern day Alien. ]
[15] And the LORD said unto him, Therefore whosoever
slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold.
And the LORD set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him
should kill him.
[What kind of mark? The Bible doesn’t say.]
[17] And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare
Enoch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the
city, after the name of his son, Enoch.
[Where did Cain find a wife? Why would they need a city
if there were no people to populate it? At this point, I figure
there could have been no more than maybe a half dozen
people on earth at best. That is if we don’t pay due respect
to the first creation.]
[25] And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son,
and called his name Seth: For God, said she, hath appointed
me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew. [See?
There were hardly enough people to require a city.]
